GOOD NEWS recognizes the Holy Scriptures as the only authority for faith and life. Inasmuch as many groups, denominations, and cults also claim to use the Bible as their authority, GOOD NEWS employs the approach of interpretation as set forth by the Lutheran Reformers. These courageous leaders desired to restore the church to the teaching of Christ, the apostles, and the prophets. Thus, they taught: The Word is supreme; Christ is the living and eternal manifestation of that Word, the Holy Spirit works faith only through the Gospel and the Sacraments; all teaching must focus on the person and work of Christ and thus must also reflect a correct understanding of Law and Gospel.
